The Side Project Sprint Sessions.

Use your time, and dedicate some time to your side project. Next Sprint starts 19th June 2021, for 5 weekly sessions.

We set these 5 weekly sessions up, because we kept hearing of people procrastinating on their projects, holding themselves back or not making the progress they wanted to, simply because they got stuck on one thing, or didn’t hold themselves accountable to making time.

If you are running a side project, it can be difficult to find time and motivation. There’s nothing worse than not finding the motivation, only to see someone else create the exact thing later down the line.

The Sprint is designed for all people with side projects who want to dedicate some focused time to their side project. You don’t need to have one goal, or even know where you’re going yet. You just need to want to commit 2 hours every weekend to building your side project, and be open to hearing from others or helping others.

We believe, and we’ve already seen it happen many times, that surrounding yourself with a supportive community, getting regular feedback and giving yourself structure can really make the difference between a side project that grows and one that never reaches its potential.

What is a sprint?

A ‘sprint’ is a way of chunking up time, made popular in the tech and design communities. It begins with a planning discussion, and during the sprint, the team holds regular chats to talk about progress, get feedback and collectively find solutions. It’s a simple way to make progress, and learn from those around you.

Week 1, Sunday 10am GMT.

Introduction to the process and say hello to everyone in the group. Chat through what you’ll be working on during the sprint, get feedback on any elements on your project that are keeping you stuck.

1 x hour’s deep focus: whether it’s writing, planning, emailing, drawing (so you can get motivated and get the weekend off to a great start)

Week 2, Sunday 10am GMT.

We catch up with coffee, and use the time and space to get feedback and advice from the group.

2 x hour’s deep focus sessions (with a break in between).

Week 3, Saturday 10am GMT

We catch up with coffee, and use the time and space to get feedback and advice from the group.

2 x hour’s deep focus sessions (with a break in between).

Week 4, Saturday 10am GMT

We catch up with coffee, and use the time and space to get feedback and advice from the group.

2 x hour’s deep focus sessions (with a break in between).

Week 5, Saturday 10am GMT

1 hour deep work to kick off.

Final catch up. Share your own project questions or help others.

Optional community

You'll receive an invite to the Slack channel - so you can join the Out of Hours community, with side project people from places like London, Hong Kong, Berlin and San Francisco - working in tech, product, research, marketing, design and more ✨
